This Canon 590A is known as my purse camera. Auto to manuel settings with 8 mp. And it has a viewfinder, something I insist upon in any camera. The Price is astonding!

My Portriat/Macro lens is a Sigma 105 2.8
For low light situations A CAnon 50mm 1.8
I also love my compact SLR and use this for video purposes too. This is my medium size camera. It is the one most often recommend to people when they want better camera but not ready to go for the big guns. CANON S5 IS I think The latest version is an S20 IS.
